A new church for a new generation
Don’t blame God for how His children behave. Don’t abandon the church, either. There are always many more dedicated, grace-filled, loving, and forgiving people than not in most churches. Seek them out. Spend time with them. If you cannot find them, find another church (it is rare that you cannot find them even in the most difficult church environment). The church is God’s idea, and He protects it faithfully even though He is pained often by its behavior.

There is a strong warning throughout this answer that a wound of this kind, if unattended, will penetrate deep into the soul and destroy any chance of living an abundant life in Christ (
John 10:10). You can have hope because you are seeking healing.

The Wounded

Someone once said that the church is the only group that shoots its wounded. Thousands of people have had bad experiences with church. That is tragic because Jesus never intended that His church be a place of hurt. Sadly, we have come to accept that this is the way church is. There is an epidemic of fractured believers out there and we have actually come to accept this as the norm. So either we stay away and let our hearts become cold … or we put on our Sunday best, and hope the problems will just go away. The hurt in individual hearts and churches gets buried … until it gets bumped again.
We believe that church should be a place where the wounded, the disenfranchised, or the disillusioned can find a place to worship and be healed.
GracePointe is that kind of place. We’re not perfect; however, we are committed to be a place where wounded warriors can receive healing from the Lord. If you have had such an experienced, our commitment to you is peace. Our church is named GracePointe because it is a place of grace. We will teach you what the Bible really says, help you to find healing for your past, and be very good to you.
