A new church for a new generation

Preaching/Teaching

The Bible teaches that all believers grow through the study and application of Scripture. That's why our teaching pastors have such a high view of the Bible and the need for accurate and easy-to-understand teaching. The emphasis of his teaching ministry is the careful study and verse-by-verse exposition of the Bible, with special attention devoted to the historical and grammatical background behind each passage.

Everyone attending receives a Sermon Listening Sheet with major points, scripture references and applications for today. What you learn on Sunday, you can put to use on Monday through Saturday.

Worship

Worship is our highest expression of devotion and love to our God. It is central to who we are in our relationship with Him.

We do a mix of traditional hymns and we incorporate some of the most appropriate praise and worship music from the last 20 years.

We don't try to be traditional, blended, or contemporary. We're just GracePointe. Our worship is focused on God and not upon ourselves. If any of us fall victim to saying, "I can't worship unless I have my preferences," then we're not worshipping God, we're worshipping ourselves.

Leadership

 Tom Holland

Tom Holland is the lead pastor for GracePointe Church. Before founding GracePointe, he pastored Baptist churches in California, Tennessee, Oklahoma and New Mexico. Tom recently celebrated forty-four years in ministry.

He is a native Texan who grew up in the Phoenix's Valley of the Sun. He attended Mesa Community College to play baseball with an eye on a law degree from Arizona State. That was before God called Tom to the Gospel ministry. He changed directions and received a Bachelor’s degree in Church Music, a Bachelor’s degree in ministry and a Master’s degree in theology. He is also an accomplished musician and author.

The emphasis of his teaching ministry is the careful study and verse-by-verse exposition of the Bible, with special attention devoted to the historical and grammatical background behind each passage.

Tom's leadership goals are to preach sermons that are biblically sound, contemporaneously challenging, and personally experiential; and to lead the congregation to fulfill the biblical mandate of making disciples.

He enjoys playing golf, watching ASU football, Suns basketball and Diamondback baseball. But most of all, he enjoys being with the love of his life-- Mary Ann.

Tom and Mary Ann married in 1971, and they have one married daughter and one granddaughter. Mary Ann holds two degrees in elementary education and a degree in psychology. She has served in a variety of church leadership roles and church ministries but acknowledges that she most loves being Tom's wife.

Caleb Elms

Caleb Elms is a native Arizonian who grew up in Buckeye, Arizona. He received Bachelor’s Degree in Vocal Performance and Church Music from Grand Canyon University. He has served as a worship leader both nationally and internationally. Everyone who hears his powerful lyric tenor voice always responds “incredible.”

He and his wife, Ashley, have three sons. While Ashley is at home with their children, Caleb works full time at the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station as a Carpenter Foreman. His free time is spent hunting, working on cars, and spending time with his family.

Caleb is grateful to use his God-given talents in service at GracePointe Church.
